I am going to attempt to keep up with a 180 Day blog this year. So for Day 1, here is how it went down:
Physical Science and Chemistry: Policies and Chromebook setup.
Physics of Light: Here we did a communication-based activity. Students worked in pairs to recreate small, marshmallow structures. One student had 10 minutes to write the procedure, the other then had 10 minutes to recreate the structure from only the directions. Below are some of the results.
The more successful structures featured directions that included visual representations of the structures to be built. We then discussed the need to learn how to correctly communicate with each other in a modeling based classroom. We need to learn how to clearly communicate when in lab, during post-lab discussions, during white board sessions, when asking questions, etc.
